Model FAQ- How do I Increase My Earnings?

This is usually the first question models new to the forum ask. On the forum that I visit, it gets asked in the model's only section at least once a day, and in the ask-a-model section at least once a month, and in the other public areas once every few months.

(To the members: "But I thought you were in it for the fun!" Well, I am in this because it is fun, yes, but I also need to make a living off of it. The same is true for any camgirl. Just because we find it fun doesn't automatically make payment irrelevant. I'm sure a lot of actors find acting fun, but they still expect payment for their skills.)

There are a number of things you can do to increase your earnings no matter what site you're on, but for the most part, what makes one model soar will make another model sink.

Trying to find out what affects placement and focus on getting a better placement on the site, is something that most models think of immediately. But this is not always the way to go. In fact, it isn't usually the way to go. Everyone else is trying to get the best placement too, but outwardly competing with other models usually hurts the model doing the competing. Instead, focus on yourself!

So what will actually help?

1. Get a good camera, and good lighting.

Most models like the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000, or the Logitech c910. Fiddle with your settings until you find what makes you look best on your computer, before you go live. The current Logitech software likes to reset it every time you restart your computer, but it's not that difficult to put it back right. Take off ALL auto-anything. Those will make it choppy when you move.

As for lighting, if you're pale, you're going to want soft lights, if you're not pale, you can get away with harsher lights. Place the lights behind where the camera views. To the side as well as behind is good, but it can't be in the view of the camera, ever.

2. Be yourself. By this I mean don't try to act, don't try to force a role onto yourself. You won't have the energy to make it convincing for hours on end. Let however you act be how you act.

3. There will be slow days.

Don't get discouraged, or bitchy, just because there's a slow day here or there. If you have to log off to play a round of minesweeper, or read, or sing, or whatever, to pick yourself up, that's fine. Just don't stay logged off for hours- you have to be logged in for people to find you!

4. Get creative. If you can find something innovative, it will bring people in. But it doesn't have to be difficult. Sometimes, something as simple as wearing sweatpants instead of lingerie will increase your earnings.

5. This is a service- so serve the members. We rely on the members to pay our bills. Never lose sight of the fact that these people are the ones you are trying to please. That said, you don't have to do everything they say. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't do it. If it hurts you emotionally, mentally, or physically, in a way that leaves you unable to serve the next person, it's not worth it.

6. Don't feed the trolls. There will be people who will try their hardest to make camming hell for you. Don't pay any attention to them. What they are saying to you, they say to every model. So if you are self-conscious about your weight, and someone tells you that you are fat, consider this- that person goes to every model's room, says "ur fat" or "ewww, gross" to every single model they see. Some of them wait to see how you respond, but a lot of them just leave, not even bothering to see if their words had an effect. That is just how not-about-you that is. They don't care about the words they are saying, why should you?

7. Payment needs to be guaranteed- if you expect a tip, get the tip first. Do not accept paypal. For one thing, that will not help you on the site. For another, paypal will close your account if they have any suspicion at all that you are using it to get paid for adult entertainment. Very few members will pay after they get what they want.

Every girl is unique; there is no magic formula for success. There's things which are definite income killers, like shitty camera, bad lighting, and fake personalities. But... well, the top girls are a wide variety of personalities, camming styles, and body-types. Some girls do well dancing naked, some do well sitting clothed and chatting. Women of all sizes, colors, and camming styles have made it to the top.

Lastly, if you've been doing all of the above, and you haven't gotten anywhere on the site after a few months, then you need to try a new site or quit. Camming is not for everyone. Not every girl can handle been a webcam model. But for every girl that CAN handle it, there is a site. It may not be your first choice, but there is a site that will do you well. If you have the time to try out a bunch of them, go for it! If not, then try something besides camming for now.

Sites I know are Real (in no particular order)

Since a lot of guys love to start up bullshit sites which end up flopping, I figured I'd give a list of sites where a model actually stands a chance of doing well. This is by no means a comprehensive list, as I can only list those I've heard conclusively that girls have done well there. Later, I will post "Looking at Sites You Don't Know".

NOTE: Camsites focus on cams pretty heavily. Content sites focus on content pretty heavily. If a site is listed in both, it means that I am aware they focus on both an equal amount.

Camsites:

A Quick Guide to Streamate Shows and Chat

Models only get 35% of everything members give. If a show is $1.99 a minute, she is only getting $0.69 a minute. If a member tips $10 gold, the model gets $3.50.

Three Types of Users:

-Free (light gray bar above that area)- don't even have a credit card on file. Models can choose to not even have this area available, though such users can still watch the model while she's in public chat if she has it disabled.

-Guest (dark gray bar above that area)- have a credit card on file with the site, but are not currently in pay-by-minute chat. I recommend you keep this minimized when you're in a show. It will automatically expand when the show ends, giving you a second warning that you're back in public aside from the sounds.

-Paid (red bar above that area)- currently paying by the minute. Unless there's a user in this area, you are in public chat. If there is a user in this area, you are not in public chat, Guest and Free users cannot see or hear you. I recommend that you keep this minimized when you're in free chat. It will automatically expand if a paid show starts, giving you a second warning apart from the sound.

Model turns free chat on or off by clicking on the settings tab in the streaming window. This tab can only be accessed when the model is not streaming.

Minimize or expand the chat by clicking on the triangle on the far right of the relevant bar above the relevant chat.

Two types of Chat, one option:

Classic Chat- guest and paid users cannot see that there is anyone else watching, let alone what others are saying. You can only accept tips, private, and exclusive shows when this chat is active.

Party Chat- members can see what is said by other members. Members may choose to hide their messages from other members in their user options.

Model switches between classic chat and party chat via a drop-down menu on the live show tab of the streaming window. The default setting can be changed in the settings tab on the streaming window. The settings tab cannot be accessed while streaming, and the drop down cannot be changed while streaming.

PM- models can pm the members by clicking on the member's name in the user list and then typing in the normal chat like normal. If the member leaves before the model is done typing, it will bump the typing into the main room, so don't hit enter until you're sure the member is still there to receive it!

Three types of shows, two options for two of the types:

Private shows: one member starts this show, model gets no warning and no option to decline. Other members can join the show, no members will be kicked out of the guest area but many will leave. Other members will be paying the normal price, regardless of what price the initial member pays (which is normal unless block session, see later). Model may set the price when not streaming.

Exclusive shows: model has the option to disable this type of show. One member starts the show. Model has a 10 second warning, with the option to click accept or decline. If she misses the 10 seconds, it automatically accepts. A sound is made when the show is requested, so learn your sounds! If accepted, guest chat is emptied of users and minimized. Members can only take a model exclusive if they've spent a certain amount on taking models private.

Models choose the prices for Private and Exclusive shows in the model admin page when not streaming. The prices she sets are the prices the member pays, not the amount she gets for the show.

Gold Shows: Only available during party chat. Model sets the countdown for it. She needs to specify:
-action
-total countdown (remember, for a $100 countdown, you will get $35 if it's reached)
-minimum for each member to see it
-time to reach countdown

This is specified when she starts the countdown, though she can save a set for later if she's in the middle of typing and a member asks to take her private/exclusive. Members cannot initiate private or exclusive when a gold show countdown is running.

If the countdown is reached before time, model gets a 180 seconds to accept or reject the show. If the model rejects the show, the members don't pay anything.

If the countdown is not reached by 180 seconds before the coundown is to end, the model gets the choice to start the show anyway, or cancel it to try again. If she decides to try again, the members will not be charged for the first attempt, and will need to buy in again.

If the model ends the show partway through the show for whatever reason, she will not earn the money for the show. If she was kicked out due to technical difficulties, she will earn a percentage based on how much of the show was viewed.

When a show is over, a 30-second countdown is initiated. If the model has access to it, this is a good time to press the pause button for a 10-minute break to be initiated. If the model does not have access to the pause button, she should email support to get it. Log into your model account and go to "Contact Support" so they know who you are.

In the middle of a show, there is no pause button, and no end show button on the model's end. The only way she can end it is to log out of the broadcast (not the site) by clicking the "stop my show" button. If she is using the HD encoder, she will need to stop the encoder streaming session, and click "disconnect" to end it completely, because when she goes to sign back on, she will have a completely new set of links to input in that area.

Phone: A model can choose to offer phone in exclusive only, in exclusive and private chat, or not at all. This option is chosen below the "stop my show button" and can only be set after the streaming session starts. It must be redone every time.

Block Sessions: block sessions allow a member to purchase a large block of time at a discounted rate. They are charged for the whole block of time at the beginning of the session. The model faces serious consequences if she ends the block early, but the member can end it at any time. If the member is kicked out but gets back in within a few minutes, it renews the block session where it left off (I had someone kicked out of a 15 minute block, when he came back the request said for a 7-minute block).

There are four options, 15-minutes at 95%, 30 minutes at 90%, 45 minutes at 85%, 60 minutes at 80%. The member chooses private or exclusive. If the member stays longer than the time requested, he is charged the discounted rate for the rest of the minutes, but any other members watching in private are charged the normal rate. Models decide to offer or not offer each length block on her profile page before she streams.

Myths Part 1

Myth:
You can tell how much sex a girl has had by her pussy lips.

Nope. A girl was born with the pussy lips she has. Just like sex doesn't make your dick longer, sex doesn't make either the inner or the outer lips change size.

Myth:
The clit is
-the whole pussy region
or -a spot inside the pussy

The clit refers to the clitorus. It is located on the outside of the pussy, under the clitoral hood, front and center. If you talk about pounding my clit, or fucking my clit, you are talking about creating a hole in my body where none currently is. Imagine someone saying they want to shred your dick to ribbons. Yup, that's my reaction to the idea of you putting your dick in my clit, which has no opening.

Myth:
All girls squirt
or
Squirting is just pee

Some girls ejaculate. They do not necessarily ejaculate when they cum, though if they do it when they cum, it makes the orgasm more intense. The ejaculate is mostly protein and sugar, unlike piss. It comes out of the same hole that piss does, just like how a man's semen comes out the same hole that his piss does.

Pussy juice is not ejaculate. Ejaculate is usually clear, though it might have a bit of yellow in it. Pussy juice can be anything from clear, to white and creamy, to a slightly yellow tint.

All girls generate pussy juice, but many girls are not capable of ejaculating.

Myth:
Any pussy word can refer to any pussy

Beef curtains refer to the effect it has when the inner pussy lips are big, and the outer pussy lips are small.

Sideways taco refers to the effect it has when the inner pussy lips and outer pussy lips are the same size, and both are noticeable.

BTW- most girls that I've talked to hate it when their pussy is referred to as food.

Myth:
Tits are the same as boobs.

Boobs refer to the entire breast. Tits refer to the nipples, which are called teats on non-human animals.

Myth:
A pussy's wetness directly corresponds to a girl's horniness

This is only partly true. A woman can be very horny but still have a dry pussy, if she's not well hydrated. A woman can also be very wet but not really horny is she is over-hydrated. However, if a girl is properly hydrated (not too much, not too little, but JUST RIGHT), wetness is usually a good indicator of how ready her pussy is to accept a dick. Of course, you still gotta get her in the right mood.

Most of us are willing to play along, and say our pussies are wet to mean that we are horny.

Myth:
Pussy = vagina

The vagina refers to the cavity beyond the cervix. In most girls, the cervix is fully closed, even when she's spreading. Pussy, on the other hand, refers to the whole area.

Fact:
Fucking without foreplay hurts. That's a lot of friction, it's important that there is proper lubrication. Plus, foreplay "tells" the pussy that fucking is about to happen, allowing it to prepare itself properly, elongating and such.

Myth:
Every girl wants a huge dick.

Most girls have a pussy that is 5-7 inches deep. Anything more than half an inch beyond their pussy starts to run into the organs behind their pussy. So quit inflating the size of your dick, your 6 inches is perfect for most girls, 12 inches is likely to puncture her intestines.

(to those men who actually have longer dicks, you're going to have to work on control, so you don't hurt your partner. A lot. or find a really deep pussy. Try a tall girl.)

As to girth, too much of it will likely result in tearing of the pussy unless it's handled properly. This is not pleasant, and results in the lack of a sex life for about three months while the tearing heals properly.

See gentlemen, skill is more important than size.

There will be another myth/fact session later.

The problem with Paypal...

And other TOS issues

----

PAYPAL

Paypal does not allow their services to be used for adult entertainment. Alright, fine. Lots of models do it, why won't you? Well, if they catch a model using paypal, they will freeze her account, keep the money (or return it to the person who paid it), and never ever let her sign up for another account. Meaning, she'll have to use another name, another email address, and another bank account.

Want to know just how seriously they take this? If they find out that an account holder is a webcam model, even if she has NEVER used it to receive money for adult entertainment services, she gets treated to this same consequence. There's many stories of models having their account frozen because a member of a webcam site donated to her funds when it had nothing to do with camming- like her "help me buy a house" fund, or her "I need a new computer" fund, or even her "give my daughter a REAL Christmas" fund. Yup, apparently it's not enough for us to not use their services for adult entertainment purposes, adult entertainers are not allowed to use their services at all.

THIS is why no paypal. Ever.

"But I'm honest bb"

Doesn't matter. You might forget one day, and put a cute note in that gives paypal a clue. I know one girl who had that happen to her- the guy had been using it with her for a year or more, and accidentally put "thanks for the show" in the note. BAM, her account has been frozen. He got the money to her another way, but the damage is already done. She will never be able to  use paypal again.

----

MEDIAFIRE

MediaFire doesn't allow pornographic materials to be distributed through their site. There is a way around this, and being caught will only result in your file links not working. They will still be on mediafire for you to download, but will not be available to anyone else.

So how do you get around this? Zip them with a password! And name the zip file something innocuous (like "gift" or "kitty" or "toys". Words that will get your link broken: pussy, penis, dick, fuck, suck, dildo, bang)

If you use winzip:

-rightclick the file or folder  you want to zip
-mouse over "Winarchiver >" until the other menu pops up
-click "add to archive..." (DO NOT click the one that's already named)

a little popup window that says "save archive" should pop up over the open archive.
in "save archive to" you can change the name if you know what you're doing. If you don't, leave it be- you can change the name of it later.

-Go to the "advanced" tab
-click the checkbox that says "enable password protection"
-in the popup, type what password you want. make sure you note it down somewhere so you can give it to the guys who buy it.

If you use 7-zip (it's free!)

-rightclick the file or folder  you want to zip
-mouse over "7-zip >" until the other menu pops up
-click "add to archive..." (DO NOT click the one that's already named)

A popup should appear

-In the "Archive" box, type what you want the archive to be named
-in the right hand column is a section called "encryption". Enter what password you want to use there, and again in the other box. Make sure to note it down somewhere so you can give it to the guys who buy it.

Know another site that isn't adult friendly? Know how to get around it? Let me know!

MFC FAQ- Camscore

Camscore, at it's most basic, is your average tokens per hour for the last 60 days. The problem is, it also factors in what the average tokens/hour for the whole site is, so unless you have that number, you can't really get the tokens/hour.

On Amber's forum (link in the sidebar), we get together and occasionally determine what the current average tokens/hour is. At the moment, we're pretty sure it's around 385 tokens/hour.

So, step 1:
keep track of how many hours you spend on camera. Every day, record what time you log on, and what time you log off. Do this every single day, even once you've hit the 60 days.

Step 2:
Once you have sixty days of hours recorded, add up the total for 60 days. This will be hours.
Then add up your total tokens for the 60 days using your token stats page. This is tokens.

Step 3:

Plug your tokens and hours into this equation:

((tokens/hours)/400)*1000 = camscore

You should come up with your camscore. Note: 400 an estimated average tokens/hour for all models on the site. It's a stand-in, because the real number is somewhere close to that. It will be a little off, but you should know it within a couple hundred points. Second Note: 1000 is your averager. It's what tells the equation that the average camscore should be 1000. Without it, the average would be 1.

SOME THOUGHTS:

-Camscores do not update every minute or even every hour. They do not update whenever you log on or log off. Camscores update every several hours and will continue doing so as long as you are active on MFC.

-The only way to raise your camscore is to get tipped more tokens with less time online. Members- you can help! Tip your favorite camgirls so her camscore can raise.

-Worrying about camscore tends to lead to members not want to stick around. Thus the joke: the more you worry about camscore, the lower it goes, the less you worry about camscore, the higher it goes!

-1 token tips do not hurt your camscore. However, some models have reported that a flood of tips from many members can cause the system to not quite recognize all the tips that are sent. I have not experienced this phenomenon, and cannot say that it has any truth to it.

-ratings and admirations do not do anything to your camscore.

-if you still use the model software, staying logged in to the software counts as time online, even if you don't have your room up. Nothing else has this glitch.
